Risk minimization through glued laminated timber package
In principle, wooden packaging is accepted in the USA, of which the material corresponds to the ISPM 15 regulations. Unfortunately, there has been recently an increasing criticism and rejection by the US Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) of such packaging despite compliance with the ISPM regulations and due to feeding corridors in the wood.
To minimize risks of rejections, PTS Logistics offers its customers glue laminated timber packages for imports in the USA. Due to the nature of individual glued board layers, this wood is largely free of burrows and is therefore more likely to be accepted by APHIS. The decision to import is ultimately up to the U.S. agency, so PTS has no control over the import and cannot guarantee the import.
